Hicky the caterpillar has always wanted to fly.
In fact, he has applied to the Butterfly Association of Unwinged Caterpillars - the B.A.U.C - on many occasions hoping to become a butterfly by passing his flying test and getting his permanent wings.
So far, Hicky has been lucky if he has managed to keep his learner wings for more than a day, for as the insects of Quarry Grove will tell you, Hicky tends to spend more time landing on his neighbour than he does in the clouds.
But this time, it will be different. Hicky has the help of his friends.
With Quarry Grove’s nervous hero, Snirell Snail, and Percy Verance - a worm with a keen interest in invention and long sentences, Hicky might have a chance of getting his permanent wings.
Unfortunately, there are forces working against the clumsy caterpillar. Eddy Cockroach and his confused sidekick, Boris Spider, have plans for Hicky themselves. Plans which will make Eddy very rich indeed…
